Sophia Tsang

Founder/Owner & Certified Orofacial Myologist

Sophia holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the University of Alberta. After obtaining her degree, she pursued a career as a registered dental hygienist (RDH). She has been a member in good standing with Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA) and the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists (ACDH) since 2010.

Sophia then specialised with Joy Moeller at the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and pursued further training at the Coulson Institute in Denver, Colorado, where she accepted an internship with Ms Sandra Coulson at her Institution and Clinic in Colorado. Sophia took on the initiative and completed her full IAOM certification; She is amongst one of the first few in her province to be a Certified Orofacial Myologist.

Sophia loves growing and sharing her knowledge through continuing education in both orofacial myology and dentistry and finds it fascinating to be able to combine both fields of work into her practice. She is an active member in good standing with the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM).

Sophia is trained and involved in educating candidates about Myobrace, Myofunctional Orthodontics. Myobraces are sized, prefabricated dental appliances that assist myofunctional habit correction, TMJ, sleep disorders and tooth positioning. We work with dentists who may also be providers of Myobrace for anyone who may benefit from this treatment option.  And has completed full training with her COMPLETE VIVOS INTEGRATED PRACTICE to help with VIVOS appliance therapy patients.  

Shavaun Cuthbertson

B.Sc., RDH, COM®

Certified Orofacial Myologist

Shavaun completed a bachelor of science degree (BSc) from the University of Windsor, Ontario and graduated from the dental hygiene program at the University of Alberta in 2012. She enrolled in her first Orofacial Myology course in 2019 after hearing about it in a continuing education lecture which then led to completing her certification with the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) in 2021. Shavaun loves being able to connect the two fields of dentistry and orofacial myology into her career and is excited about the growth of the incorporating disciplines within the Edmonton area. Although the ideology of the consequences of dysfunctional orofacial muscles have been around for hundreds of years, it is starting to become integrated into common practice within the dental field. Shavaun is passionate about educating patients about their orofacial myofunctional disorders and excited about being able to help patients make changes to live a healthier and happier life! 

Rebecca Hoehne

RDH, COM®

Certified Orofacial Myologist

Rebecca graduated from the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene in 2012 and has always had a keen interest in providing young kids with an incredible dental experience. Rebecca quickly became interested in orofacial myology after learning the positive effects it can have in the lives of both kids and adults.

Rebecca took her Orofacial Myology course in 2016 and became a Certified Orofacial Myologist with the International Association of Orofacial Myology in 2017. Rebecca started a local study club for her colleagues to further the awareness and education in the Myofunctional Therapy field. She enjoys working with collaborative professionals such as dentists, orthodontists and speech language pathologists to ensure the best outcome for her patients. Rebecca has a passion for habit elimination, such as thumb sucking and loves to witness the incredible success patients can see with completion of their Myofunctional Therapy programs.

When she is not at work, Rebecca is busy with her 4 young boys. She loves spending her days outdoors with her sons, enjoys athletics, travelling and a good cup of coffee. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you achieve excellent orofacial development and function.

 

Andria Wester

BSc, RDH, OnTrack to COM

Andria completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta in 2006. She returned to complete the Dental Hygiene Program, graduating in 2011. She first became interested in myofunctional therapy after hearing about it through one of her continuing education courses. Having had two children with lip and tongue ties, she knows first hand the challenges families can face as a result of orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). Her desire is to continue to learn and grow as she works towards Orofacial Myology Certification through the IAOM. She looks forward to being able to help individuals and families improve their OMD symptoms.

 

Meagan Skilton

BSc, RDH, OnTrack to COM

Meagan graduated from Durham College with an advanced diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2014 and continued her education to receive a bachelor's degree in Allied Health Sciences with the Ontario Tech University in 2019. After moving to Edmonton in 2017, Meagan has enjoyed being a dental hygienist in the community and is passionate about helping patients reach their oral health goals while educating them about their oral and systemic health connections.

She completed the MyoMentor course with Sarah Hornsby in 2023 and is excited about identifying myofunctional issues with patients and discussing their long term impact. She has received extensive training with VIVOS to help educate patients about non-surgical expansion options, airway dentistry and growth guides for children. She is eager to work with the community to correct myofunctional disorders while she continues to work towards her myofunctional therapy certification with the IAOM.
